Leg pain and Sciatica

Leg pain and Sciatica can be experienced by patients having lower back pain or they can be isolated. A sciatica is described as a pain occurring on the travel of the sciatic nerve. This nerve is essential for the normal functioning of the lower part of the body as he controls some of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints of the legs. The most common cause of sciatica is an injury of the lower back called “disc herniation” or “slipped disc“. Those terms mean there is a disc damage which can be responsible of radiation on the way of the sciatic nerve or other nerves. When it concerns the sciatic nerve, the pain can occur from the buttock to the back part of the thigh, calf and foot. Numbness and tingling can also be a sign of sciatica or slipped disc.
